At a guess, I suspect Woodward was interviewed to get a quote for the story,
not because of any current involvement. He did do some DNA studies a dozen
years ago or so -- it seems like there was a PBS special about that. Here's a bit

There's a press release from Applied Biosciences, which helped set up the
aDNA facility in Egypt. It also links to the Discovery Channel, which is airing a
special on July 15. Reading between the lines, I don't expect to see any raw
data soon.
