As I have some distinctive markers in the 38-67 set, I have been
waiting for some of these other families to test those markers. I notice
that many of these surnames are slow to take up testing 38-67 markers. I
wonder if some surname project administrators have not been promoting the 67
marker tests very strongly?

I agree that if there is an interesting marker that defines a cluster such
as DYS492=13 then it could be good to test.
But apart from that there is not a lot of variation.
In the Irish Type III cluster I have 40 that have tested to 67 markers.
Ave mutations from modal at 37 markers are 4.56 markers
Ignoring the DYS464 and CDY fast markers the Ave is 2.87 markers
The addition of the final 30 markers increases the ave by 1.37 markers
13 markers show no variation at all.
DYS481 is the most common mutation.
Number Value
1 21
21 22
18 23
So this marker alone counts for nearly 0.48 of the 1.37
DYS534 is the next most variable
Number Value
7 14
24 15
9 16
This marker gives a further 0.40
The final 15 markers have a scattering making up the final 0.49
So unless there is a good reason I wonder at the worth of extending to 67.
