Well, that was certainly not the case in my recent 37-marker STR test
(if I understand correctly what you're saying). The box was uploaded
by FTDNA (not by me ) as "R1b1 tested". This haplogroup was a
"prediction" by them (at least in the usual sense of the word, not
based on any SNP test). I have no complaint with their helpful
prediction (which was later SNP-proved correct), only with the
misleading original word "tested".
