Hi,
I am a retired physicist whose career required an intimate
mathematical understanding of probability and statistics. I am also a
newbie at geneteaology, and I'm drowning in acronyms and genetic
jargon. I have purchased Smolenyak and Turner's (S&T) book. "Trace
your roots with DNA" and find myself turning to their glossary with
every paragraph I read on this list, but even that is not enough.
Some of the terms I read here are not in that glossary.
Would it be too much to ask that contributors here take some pains to
define enough terms so that a newbie can understand more than a
single paragraph without resorting to a glossary?
Also, It would help if I knew the URL to Doug McDonald's website.
Perhaps there a more complete glossary of terms that available in S&T?
Any other pointers would be appreciated.
Best,
Jerry
