Subject: [DNA] Come again with how to discern H2a2? Or is it H*?

In the phylogenetic tables of haplogroup H, it looks as though if you have
8860G, 15326G, 1438G, 4769G, and 750G, you have H2a2; it looks very
straightforward - and none of the other H subclades have 1438G, 4769G, or
750G.

However, in the table of polymorphisms associated with more than one
haplogroup in Hernstadt, 2002, 220 of 226 haplogroup H had 8860G, and all of
the members of every other haplogroup had 8860G. 220 of 226 Haplogroup H
had 15326G, and everyone in all the other haplogroups had 15326G. 208 of
226 Haplogroup H had 1438G, and everyone in all the other haplogroups had
8860G. 209 of 226 Haplogroup H had 4769G, even though 4769G is a subclade
of 1438G and that is more people than had 1438G; and everyone in all the
other haplogroups had 4769G. And with 750G, which is a subclade of 4769G,
it gets even better; 219 of 226 Haplogroup H had 750G, while everyone in all
the other subclades had 750G.

Looking at a printout of Ian Logan's mutation lists with haplogroups
generated from recent submissions to Genbank, we have:

H* 750G, A1438G, G2361A, A4769G, A8860G, A15326G, and other stuff in the
HVR regions.

H* 750G, A1438G, G2361A, A4769G, A8860G, A15326G, and other stuff in the
HVR regions.

H* 750G, A1438G, G2361A, A4769G, A8860G, A15326G and other stuff in coding
and control regions.

pre-HV 750G, A1438G, G2361A, A4769G, A8860G, A15326G and a whole lot of
other stuff

H* 750G, A1438G, G2361A, A4769G, A8860G, A15326G plus other stuff

H 750G, A1438G, G2361A, A4769G, A8860G, A15326G plus other stuff

H1 750G, A1438G, G2361A, A4769G, A8860G, A15326G plus 3010A and other stuff

H1 750G, A1438G, G2361A, A4769G, A8860G, A15326G plus 3010A and other stuff

H2a2 8860G, 15326G, 3388A, and other stuff. ???????? Someplace I've seen
3388 in the phylogeny of H2a2.

H5 750G, A1438G, G2361A, A4769G, A8860G, A15326G plus other stuff incl 456T
and 16304C.

H5a 750G, A1438G, G2361A, A4769G, A8860G, A15326G plus other stuff incl
456T and 16304C, and 4336C.

Skipping around and picking ones at random;

J1 A750G, 1438G, T3010A, A4769G, A8860G, A15326G, other stuff, 16069T,
16126C, 16261T (which is supposed to define J1).

K1b2 A750G, A1438G, A4769G, A8860G, A15326G, and not 3010A. plus 12308G,
16224C, and 16311C.

U4b A750G, A1438G, A4769G, A8860G, A15326G, plus 12308G and T16356C.

And so on. All motifs appear to have all five of those mutations.

So are these five mutations and nothing else H*, or H2a2?

Dora Smith
