I am sorry. we have not gotten our results back yet. I

Looking for these Surnames and/or extended

My reply:

Debbie,

I think you had told me in an offlist e-mail that
you're using DNA testing to jumpstart the traditional
genealogy paper trail research for your Polito line.
As I replied to you then, just having results for your
own Polito line won't be enough.

You're going to have to find other Politos (possibly
Ippolitos too) to test their DNA. Assuming you find
someone with a close or exact match at the 25 marker
results you'll soon have for your brother, then both
you and the matching person will have to upgrade to 37
markers. Actually, 67 markers would be better. If the
match holds up at 37 or 67 markers, then you have
found someone who shares a recent (last few hundred
years or less) common ancestor with your Polito line.
At that point, you can get paper trail information
from your match which will relate to your line.

By the way, as I responded to your posting on the
FTDNA message board, your brother's results have an
expected results date of 9/14. It is the case that
sometimes FTDNA beats the expected results date, so
you may have the results by late August or early
September.
