This is the nomenclature recommended by the DNA Committee of the International Society of Forensic Genetics (ISFG):

The issue of Y-GATA-H4.1 was addressed by Butler (NIST) and Gusmao and representatives of ABI and the FBI in the following letter to the editor:

Hopefully, other labs will quickly adopt the ISGF recommendations, as this is the only way to clear up the confusion over nomenclature.

Wow; I thought the issue of STR repeat conventions from the various labs was bad enough this morning. This afternoon Relative Genetics sent out an announcement indicating major changes at DYS442, A10, and H4 which seem novel (plus some others which I seem to have seen before) from all other convention issues that have given me headaches in the past.
If Israel and a number of Arab countries can agree to have a summit in the coming weeks, then certainly the labs could, also.
