John, you'll have to edit Wikipedia. Surely you don't mean to include
McDonald under Mackintosh though? E

Elizabeth,

Moncreiffe, The Highland Clans, page 60, "Clan Chattan...Besides
Mackintosh and his own principal branches - Farquharson of Invercauld, Shaw
of Tordarroch, MacThomas (McCombie) of Glenshee - there were the Macphersons
and Cattanachs, also the MacGilllivrays of Dunmaglas (whose chief commanded
the whole Clan Chattan for Lady Mackintosh at Culloden), Macleans of
Dochgarroch ('Macleans of the North), McBains of Kinchyle, Macqueens of
Corribrough, as well as the other clansmen bearing such names as Davidson,
Macphail, MacAndrew, Gow, Clark, Ritchie, MacHardy, and Mackilligin."

Pages 62-63: "But it seems possible that they got a firmer legal title
later (and the quartering of the Galley in their arms), as the tocher of
Mora, granddaughter of the powerful Hebridean prince Ranald (namefather of
Clanranald), of the Clan Donald reigning House of the Isles who were long
overlords of Lochaber."

McComb[ie] or MacThomas of Glenshee - branch of Mackintosh
Maclean of Dochgarroch ('Maclean of the North')
Macphail
McCarty analogous to MacHardy
McReynolds analogous to McRanald
McCrannal analogous to McRanald
McDonald - Clan Donald
Maccormick - branch of Maclean of Lochbuie (might be wrong one) [George
Way of Plean]
McCracken - branch of Maclean [George Way of Plean]

3 miscellaneous, 3 Maclean branches, 3 Clanranald branches. [The other 3
had early Clanranald ties too but not as close]

Well 9 out of the 12 seem to be associated with Clan Chattan.
