In my opinion, this statement is slightly misleading. Welsh names followed
a patrynomic naming system for centuries. Rhys ap Tewder (Rhys son of
Tewdr) in the next generation became Gryffudd ap Rhys (Gryffudd the son of
Rhys). Therefore Morgan is neither a first or last name. It is simply a
name.
