Renee,

I am Canadian, living in Nova Scotia. I second Dora's comment. I've used FamilyTreeDNA and
Ethnoancestry for my testing without the slightest concern. And, as Ken pointed out, with our
dollar trading now above par with the US$ you will even save some money.

The following charts from the International Society of Genetic Genealogy (ISOGG), provide some price
comparisons between various companies:

There is a Vancouver-based company called GeneTrack BioLabs (http://www.genetrack.bc.ca/index.html).
Their commercial genetic genealogy front is called GeneBase (http://www.dnaancestryproject.com/). I
have not used them so can not offer any first hand advice on their service. However, based on the
reviews I've read I would not do business with them. See:

http://www.geneticsandhealth.com/2006/11/22/genebase-dna-ancestry-project/

GeneBase has only been in business for a year or so perhaps the problems they've had are growing
pains. I do have one participant in my East Anglia Project who tested with them and I've seen
GeneBase results from posted on YSearch. Since you are in Vancouver you could probably stop in and
visit them for more info.

You're not required to use a Canadian firm - if there are any, and I don't
believe I've heard of any. You can deal with a U.S. firm or even with one
in Britain.
