I am extremely interested in that website. I have family on both sides of
that data. I constantly find slave information in the research that I do,
and I always catalog those individuals by their owners name for lack of any
other way to do it. My data base is in excel and easily sortable by
"position" in each entry. Position in this case would be "slave". I'd love
to submit what I have. Amazingly enough, we've actually been able to track
slave families back a couple of generations through their owners' family
transactions. My problem is tracking them after they were freed before
emancipation. We suspect that the last names may have changed and we can't
find them on subsequent census (1830, 1840).

Roberta,
There is a lady on this mailing list that helped me submit my family
slave owning data in one of my grandfather's will to a African website.
Maybe she will see your posting. I did that to hopefully help prove
someone's lineage. I don't have her email address.

If African Ancestry truly does have the largest African DNA data base, I
would expect them to generate more matches than DTDNA, and based on the
results we saw, it surely looked like DTDNA had quite a few more. I wonder
if they would answer that question if I called them since I'm not a
customer. Maybe someone onlist who is a customer of theirs will ask that
question.
