Ann, I did end up last night with the conclusion that Genebase is not
connected to anything (complete anomie there), and that Genebase is creating
confusion with Ancestry.com's confusion by calling their efforts by a
similar name. Ancestry - "Ancestry DNA Project". Genebase - "DNA
Ancestry Project".
Then I posted all of my findings at that page about Genebase problems, and
explained that the person who thought Genebase teamed up with Ancestry.com
probably got confused by the similar names. From what he wrote, it sure
looks that way.
I really thought I saw some article that linked Ancestry and Genebase, but I
can't find it now, and whatever I did see could have been about something
completely different that Genebase is doing. Clearly Ancestry linked with
Relative Genetics.
The post you've pointed me to says that there is Sorenson as in SMGF, and
Sorenson a DNA testing company, and one processes the samples for the other,
and also for a network of other companies that I know are interlinked.
Maybe the two Sorenson's are completely independent entities, but from what
is in that post it does not look that way. I'd have to re-research who
owns them and what the relationship between them is. Not to worry about
Mormon conspiracies and Familysearch's confused ancestral data here, but it
is important to know who all may end having your genetic data where.
Mind you, to my way of thinking, if they are two aspects of the same outfit,
then they're substantially "the same", no matter how an actual Venn diagram
of the relationship would work out.
Yours,
Dora Smith
