Thanks for the article. I already have it, but I appreciate it anyway.

First paragraph is wrong, and not the first time I've seen statements like
it today. The fact that the CCR5 delta 32 allele keeps proving common in
Neolithic skeletons makes it clear that the allele is more than 750 years
old.

The premise on which these particular authors based this age is also
incorrect; Europeans split from East Asians and Africans by 40,000 BCE, long
before Neolithic times when the gene seems to have been common. These
authors make it sound like Europeans split from Africans and East Asians
just before 750 years ago! LOL!

You know, I'm pretty sure I had a smallpox vaccination scar on my arm - but
its presence didn't seem to depend on the vaccination taking. My early
childhood vaccination records say that that my first vaccinations took, but
our doctor was something of a joke, so I don't take that to mean the
vaccination necessarily took. Certainly other peoples' were still taking
in grade school.

One thing; people who have previously tested at FTDNA can actually find out
theri CCR5 delta 32 status for about $17, plus a $20 or so fee if this is
your first upgrade. The test costs alot more from the one or two companies
that are doing it as a medical test, though they usually also test for more
than one gene for resistance to HIV. I didn't keep track of what the other
gene is; not as historically interesting, apparently. These tests are
often done on people who already have HIV to determine prognosis and
strategies, believe it or not.
