imagine there are some people on this list who are ordering the test
right away?
I created an account because I didn't see any other way to find out how much
they were charging for this service. The promotional price fits into the
definition of the "The $1000 genome" -- which makes me a tad suspicious, since
the test is described as a "Genetic Scan of your entire genome." I was under
the impression that such pricing for such a product was not yet technically
available. I even read the Illumina presentation posted on this list awhile
back and had the distinct impression they were still talking about 100X that
amount. Has there been some breakthrough that I'm not aware of? Or is this
perhaps a way to get people to pay for being guinea pigs for their test
equipment and processes?
I will note that it said that at this point PayPal is required. I didn't
see anything about using a credit card.
Either way, if Santa is reading the list, this has moved to the top of my
list, if only because I am simply too darned curious not to have it done, just
to see what it gets me! And, Santa, I don't live in one of the states where
the genetic risk stuff is prohibited. If Santa isn't so moved, well maybe
I'll win the lottery and be able to afford this ;)
