A doctor prescribed a medication for my mother. The medication was
specifically advertised by the drug company to have a potentially fatal side
effect. The side effect occurred in my mother's case. Neither that doctor
nor anyone else in the entire hospital correctly diagnosed the problem.
Finally, _I_ went on the Internet and made a correct diagnosis--but too
late. My mother had already gone into kidney failure, and died within six
months.
The moral of the story: Typical doctors and hospitals are so far behind the
times as to be literally worse than useless. The wise patient and her
family will indeed consult the Internet instead of malpracticing doctors.
