Vince,
You said, "One of the three key content policies, by the way, is "no
original research."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:No_original_research "
But David Faux said, "The genetics, even if in the opinion of the writer, is
speculative, it is based on a huge literature from a variety of different
fields."
So, I'm unclear if it was David's original research, or if it was an article
"citing reliable sources that provide information directly related to the
topic of the article, and represents those sources accurately" (to quote
wiki).
I don't recall reading it before it was deleted, so I can't judge for
myself. Genealogy, including genetic genealogy, is all about sharing, so
if David wrote an article sharing a compilation of sources, that would've
been interesting to read.
Example: I'm not a Catholic, and I wouldn't go into some wiki article about
Catholics and delete all or part of it just due to the fact I'm not
Catholic. I think David is saying that information was deleted simply
because one person did not like it. On the other hand, I'm not the person
who deleted it, and I can't read their mind, so I don't know why they
deleted it. Tough issue, but worth discussing on this list, since it
involves genetic genealogy material.
