An anthropological view of Jewish history as recommended by Ellen Levy
Coffman, Who were the Early Israelites and Where Did They Come From,
by William Dever, 2006. I have read it and it is dry, academic, and
non-dna oriented which makes it useful as background material.

Also, DNA & Tradition, by Rabbi Yaakov Kleiman, 2004 has material
similar to that of the book by John Entine and it includes sections on
the history of both Sephardim and Ashkenazim which might answer Ken's
question.
