Subject: [DNA] When is SNP Testing Useful for Genealogists ?
Date: Fri, 8 Feb 2008 15:41:52 -0800 (PST)
We DO NOT know TODAY
what will
be genealogically useful TOMORROW. And it is a race against TIME in
many
cases. Remember hindsight is 20/20 and so often useless. So my creed
is
(adapted from the old soldiers' order):
"Swab 'em and test 'em if you've got 'em!"
Anne

This is certainly true in my family. We just had a 93 year old male cousin on our Lewis line that is now testing a 37 marker test. It will at least show matches or not with three other Lewis lines that have already tested and in Janet Crain's Lewis Project at FTDNA. These three Lewis lines are close to time and locations and should show a match or not. I'm thrilled we got a 93 year year old to test for our line. :)
