I've been fiddling around with data from all FTDNA geographical groups
especially the R1b1c data (occasionally some Ysearch data added). One of
my rough findings is the following and it concerns the DYS 389-2.

The modal value for 389-2 is obviously 29.
The total R1b1c distribution on the values 28, 29 and 30 are respectively
0.11, 0.59 and 0.25 (N=1768). (N.b. 30 > 28)
Most geographic groups concur this pattern albeit at different frequencies
even up to 0.91 for the modal value of 29 within the Breifne Clans. There
are however some distinct groups with lower modal values.

Belarussian Jewish 28 (0.67) 29 (0.00) 30 (0.33) (N=3)
Jewish Ukraine west 28 (0.75) 29 (0.00) 30 (0.25) (N=3)
Lithuanian 28 (0.47) 29 (0.33) 30 (0.13) (N=14)

and to a lesser extend
Danish Demes 28 (0.50) 29 (0.50) 30 (0.00) (N=4)
Jewish 28 (0.40) 29 (0.40) 30 (0.13) (N=15)

On the upside I find

Benelux 28 (0.17) 29 (0.25) 30 (0.50) (N=12)
Flanders and Flemish 28 (0.17) 29 (0.33) 30 (0.50) (N=6)
Czech 28 (0.00) 29 (0.20) 30 (0.60) (N=5)
Scotland 28 (0.23) 29 (0.23) 30 (0.36) (N=22)

I know the numbers are very small indeed. We need more people testing, but
at the moment we don't have more data. But once the first three are taken
together (Belarussian Jewish, Jewish Ukraine west and Lithuanian N=20) or
the Benelux and Flanders and Flemish (N=18). Is it possible to say with
all cautions that DYS 389-2 modal East tends to be lower (28) than the
same from the West (29-30)? Might this be a candidate for a possible
East-West divide opposed to the many markers that split North-South?
