Terry, fast mutating or not, anyone would be hard pressed to make a
case for a 53/67 (79%) match being genealogically significant. In
fact, it is more often the case that FTDNA's "fast mutating
five" (the five markers not tested by Sorenson) are likely to be a
fairly close match in individuals with recent common ancestry (at
least in R1b). I think that is precisely why these STRs were chosen
by FTDNA to be part of their 37 marker standard. On a personal level,
I routinely disregard any match that has a genetic distance greater
than 10%, especially when 67 or more markers are being compared. Pat
