For the Hendricks DNA Project the idea of Y-DNA testing has seemed to me to be very simple for the purpose that most people who join our project are concerned about.
12 marker testing gives to many false positives with people who are not kin. It does give you a haplogrooup which helps sort people into different kinship groups.
The 25 marker Y-DNA test has also proven ineffective for us as we have had a number of false positives when what we are looking for is to establish proof of kinship so people with researched data can figure out their relationships.
Therefore we have for over 3 years required 37 marker Y-DNA testing and it has proved highly effective in solving the problem most of our members are concerned about.
We have had a numnber of our members do 67 marker testing, deep clade testing and speciality marker testing. However at this time of change I believe from what I have seen there is more uncertaintity in the methodology, people opinions and people's calculations and the data base to show much more than just the simple 12 marker results that reveals a Haplotype has shown.
For me I'm just going to listen and keep tuned in but don't have much faith on all the talk and opinions being put forth at this site. with the limited data base that seems to exist.
However we're going to keep doing the 37 marker Y-DNA test as it has proven the most effective in determing relationships which most of the people I know are concerned about that do Y-DNA testing.
