An option would be to use the Haplogroup page instead, eliminating other haplogrous that are not downstream from R1b, because someone who is not shown as R1b1b2g today may not have tested further than R1b at this point. So I would not exclude anyone downstram from R1b. After all, members that are R1b have a common paternal ancestor, even though this was cca. 30,000 years ago (whatever the agreed age might be).Dan

I can see the usefulness of the tool, I was just thrown a bit by the context of the thread. > > The RAO matches for me are very much influenced by my haplotype being close to WAMH. Thus the presumed "sampling bias in favor of UK" kicks in heavily despite my ancestor definitely being from SW Germany. When you jump to 25 markers, the picture changes completely and I go from having maybe 900 matches to 5 or 6, including members of the same lineages. It allows me to visualise match densities, based on each level of genetic distances. It is not to determine the source of R1b1b2g, only to determine which members are closer to me, and at what densities, based on the number of matches from a particular country, relative to the total number of tested from that country. Nothing fancy, just a tool, like any other... It is the same as trying to determine ages for the TMRCA, the results will be as good as the data available. It was just a suggestion for others who are interested. Obviously, it is not for everyone...> > Dan> >> > > -------------------------------> To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
