Hello,
I am not an expert but have had a couple of branches of my family tested and
am still learning.
On your personal page at FamilyTreeDNA on the top of the left hand column
there is a place that lists groups if Young is listed there it is my
understanding that the administrator of the Young surname project has access
to your results. I am not a project administrator but I imagine it is a
fair amount of work so it may take some time especially if you don't fit
among the lines that are currently tested. Young may be like my Wilson
surname where the name cannot be traced to a single common ancestor as some
surnames may be so the project is quite complex. I searched your ysearch ID
and found that your closest match is a genetic distance of 4 on 37 markers
and no common surnames.
I am in a similar postition with a McKinnon sample in my family. There are
no close matches on 37 markers but there are only 3 McKinnon's listed on
ysearch. (Unfortunately now you can't search ysearch by surname but it
would be interesting to know how many Young's are listed.) Right now I am
hoping that the database will increase soon. For genealogy purposes the
information gained is found among comparisons in the database . (For the
experts this may not be the case.) You can only compare your DNA to the
existing database but fortunately the database is always expanding and you
can encourage people who you think may be related to have testing done.
I can only tell by comparing your ysearch ID, I can't see anything on your
familytreeDNA page but you may have some matches listed on your
FamilyTreeDNA personal page Y Matches section. In the preferences section
you can set it so it will show matches among all surnames or only your
surname.
Hope this "non expert" interpretation helps.
Elizabeth
