I'm not an expert on R1b, but are you suggesting that S21 and S28 shared a common ancestor together only 300-500 years ago? Or am I misunderstanding your argument?
I think Lawrence may be pointing out the unreliability of certain haplotypes in determining accurate dating for sub-clades. I don't think you can necessarily assume a very recent common ancestor due to similarlity of haplotypes between different sub-clades, Anatole. There are cases of convergent haplotypes with different sub-clades as well.
