Darn it! I should have waited, I have over 80 markers tested and still
haven't learned a thing. I think it's nice that FTDNA is reducing the price,
however, I think it would have been more of a benefit to just automatically
include DeepSNP testing rather than discounting packages of additional
markers. I can't see much of an increase of 37 marker matches and definitely
67 marker matches to be of any benefit for the average customer. The odds of
finding elusive marker matches at higher resolutions are not good even with
large discounts. At least with DeepSNP we have data that is immediately
useful. DeepSNP testing should be automatic with the initial purchase of a
package and that should stir up more interest with the public who might be
interested in their ancient origins. We need new customers so we have more
data, especially DeepSNP data, and not more markers discounted for current
customers.
