I didn't follow this tread from the start but when I recently checked ysearch for J1 haplotypes I found that DYS492 is a good identifier of a clade with DYS492=13 (and other distinctive values) . Are these the jewish haplotypes you are considering ?
I understand you found 8 clades, can you give a hint at which are the main ones (main by the numbers in ysearch)?
There was this Italian symposium early this year mentioned on Dienekes blog and this abstract was saying that J1 might be as old in Daghestan than in arabic countries : what's the situation.
