Victoria,

FTDNA has surname projects for Carlton and Blanchard. So, if your uncle's
surname is either of these, test him under the surname project. The reason
for this is that FTDNA gives a discount for testing through surname
projects. Otherwise, the cost is quite a bit higher.

FTDNA does not have a Vauban surname DNA project. So, if this is your
uncle's surname, I recommend that you set up this project at FTDNA so as to
get the discount. Setting up a surname project is easy, just contact
Family Tree DNA and let them know you want to set up the project (and do
this before you order the testing).

FTDNA does help their project administrators quite a bit, plus you can
always ask for help on this list.

Good luck and I hope your Uncle's DNA test proves to be very helpful in
your genealogical quest.

Yours aye,

that allows me to have my results from Genebase taken over by FTDNA for a
very reasonable fee. Genebase does not have surname projects for all 3 of
my names, actually no one does. I figure though that FTDNA will have the
most and it will be best to have the markers on file there. The 3 surnames
are Carlton/Blanchard/Vauban, its the Vauban that we are unable to find any
databases anywhere on.
