Elizabeth, I endorse the above, but would go further. We never know much
of anything for sure. All knowledge comes with various levels of
credibility and consistency with the rest of knowledge. Even paper trail
genealogy suffers from the "knowing for sure" problem. We have lots of
sciences which necessarily looks into the past. Some of it is even
practical and we bet our lives and fortunes on its credibility. Ken
