Dear Nelda,
The SMGF limits you to 50 Y database searches per day and 10 mtDNA
database searches per day. You get a message on the web site saying you
have reached the maximum number of searches for the day once you hit the
limit. For extracting Y data from the SMGF database I think that Leo
Little's utility at
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~geneticgenealogy/SMGF/sear
ch4.htm remains the best tool for doing this. As others have said, if you
see white boxes for any haplotype you must wait until a future update of the
database before the boxes are filled in. It can take anywhere between one
and three years for a Y haplotype in SMGF database to be completed. In some
cases the results for a particular haplotype seem to "stall out" and seem to
take much longer than other haplotypes to be completed.
Sincerely,
Tim Janzen

Yes Mike,
I realise what the white box indicates. I also know that Sorenson's limits
your searches. How do they limit your searches? Do you know? Could it be
that there just isn't any results in the marker boxes your searching? In
other words you get a white box?

THanks
