While data mining R-P312+ for L21 tested individuals, I noticed a
peculiarity related to DYS 565. The modal for M269 haplotypes is 12,
& the same is true for R-P312+ haplotypes. Even so, there are rare
occurences of DYS 565=13 for R-P312+ haplotypes and even one DYS
565=10. A value of 11 for DYS 565 is not quite as rare as 10 or 13,
but is still very uncommon. The peculiarity is that ALL of the R-P312
+ individuals (that I can find so far) have surnames & origins in the
British Isles. This is true whether their subclade is L21+ or L21(-).
The most common occurrence of DYS 565=11 is for R-P312+/L21+
individuals with Irish surnames/origins, probably because it is
associated with the South Irish Modal haplotype. That said, DYS
565=11 in haplotypes with British Isles surnames/origins is a
reasonably strong indicator of the R-P312+ subclade.

FWIW all Irish Type III cluster that have tested L21 are +ve (N=6) and I believe it is indicative of the cluster.
There are 101 members tested for DYS565.
DYS565=11 n=3
DYS565=12 n=98
