Dear Don,
I would say that there is a reasonably high probability that your
paternal ancestry is Cobb (or that the Cobb ancestry is actually May)
provided that you have no other close matches with any other surname at 67
markers. However, be careful about jumping to the conclusion that your
paternal ancestor must have been a Cobb since at some point in time you may
discover a match with someone with another surname. You may have to wait
until you (and a number of the early Cobb lines) can do complete Y
chromosome sequencing before you come to the firm conclusion that your
paternal ancestor was actually a Cobb.
Sincerely,
Tim Janzen

What would your confidence rating be that John Tillman May was actually of
Cobb ancestry?
Thanks Don
