I don't believe what you're looking at are do-it-yourself kits. Also I don't think these companies are offering a DNA analysis service. Instead they supply the reagents and other items that could be used by a trained technician in well-equipped lab. Their customers are companies such as Family Tree DNA and 23andMe. It would be totally impractical for most individuals to even consider trying to run the tests themselves.

Hi Rebekah,
Here are the following links:
www.marligen.com/y-snp-genotyping-kits.html<http://www.marligen.com/y-snp-genotyping-kits.html>
www.illumina.com/pages.ilmn?ID=160<http://www.illumina.com/pages.ilmn?ID=160>
The SIGNET test which I'm looking into is specificly focused (it would seem) on R1. I'm not as sure regarding the 360 loci test from Illumina. Will that test give me the required information?
George Chandler
