Hi,

YDNA Adam is thought to be the father of all living males today.. the thought is that there were other males living when he lived but that those other male lines daughtered out.

Y-DNA Adam did not live when the female who is considered MTDNA Eve lived..

It is also thought that the females that live today carry the autosomal chromosomes from the male lines who daughter out...

try reading the different web listings (google) for the adam / eve /haplogroups. (male / mtdna haplogroups are different)
and the assignment of different grouping names... "R" "N" (what ever) and such; I thought depended on the scientific group who discovered them..

Someone tell us more...
