I agree that the geneology paper trail is as important as the DNA testing. It goes together.
I have done my own FGS testing for females. I had three brick walls and the yDNA has proven all three at FTDNA.. One was my father's surname and my mother's maiden name with another family line on my mother's side of the family finally being proven too. But I must say it took some talking to get someone to test. That seems to be the problem.
