Speaking of number of descendants ... if a person is of European
descent, what is the probability that s/he is descended from
Charlemagne (a.k.a. Chuck the Prolific)?

Supposedly the probability is very high.

Long ago I read a story or article about someone who proved that she
was *not* descended from C., but I can't find the story and don't
know how someone would prove that except by proving all her lines
back to before C.'s time.
