The RootsWeb list software (Mailman) will only transmit messages to subscribers
formatted in Plain Text. If you compose your messages in HTML or RTF, Mailman
will do its best to translate your message into Plain Text, before sending it on
to the list or the archive. That translation is not always flawless, especially
when it comes to links.

My guess is your problem is due to not having your email format set to Plain
