Thanks again for all your help, I'm contacting Dr. Waldrop now to see if there are any new samples in the study to analyze. :) hopefully it'll start making sense soon.

You should be able to deduce an ancestral for A from three samples, if they
descend from three different sons and possibly, if one branches later. Where
do the 3 differ and how are they related? Where does the haplotype of the B
descendant differ.
