Subject: [DNA] need sale on HVR2
Date: Fri, 11 Jun 2010 12:25:22 -0400
I think we'll all agree -- always a dangerous assumption here, of course ;-) --
that with regard to mtDNA testing, testing only HVR1 is rather a waste of time.
I have just made it a requirement in my regional project that, from now on, new
members must test both HVR1 and HVR2. This leaves the project with quite a few
members who have tested only HVR1, most of them transferees from the NGS
Genographic Project.
I would like to urge everyone who runs regional or mtDNA projects at FTDNA to
please write FTDNA and ask them to have a special sale on upgrading from HVR1 to
HVR1+HVR2 -- the mtDNARefine test. Further, if a sale on mtDNA FGS is also
offered, it might even prompt some to go the whole distance.
But, mainly, we need to upgrade the ones who've taken only the basic (HVR1)
test. Some of these people have *thousands* of HVR1 matches, most/all of whom
will have that number reduced down to hundreds or less by upgrading.
Any thoughts?
Diana
