Energy is central to the speculation of the original quote, I think. Since
gravitational energy between just about all "things" is negative*, it allows
nothing (with zero energy?) to become something in which negative
gravitational energy balances all the positive forms of energy like mass,
kinetic energy, etc. --- without the sacred energy conservation principle
being violated.

So total energy of universe = 0 ????? and it could transition back into
nothing again without violating energy conservation?

* but beware of 'dark energy'.
