Subject: [DNA] Something screwy is going on at worldfamilies.net - Terry?

Sorry!
We have been having problems of various sorts since our Domain Registrar
went bankrupt some weeks ago. The outfit that took them over has been
erratic in helping us transition at their site and weren't letting us renew
expiring domain names. We managed to make at least a partial breakthrough
this morning (after the hijacking) and worldfamilies.net and a number of our
other domains are now renewed and back on line. We have now reset the dns
pointers to direct to our site. Unfortunately, DNS Pointers take varying
times to reset. Typically, it takes as long as 24 hours and we are hoping
all dns pointers will be reset and correctly pointing to our site by noon
tomorrow (eastern time Sunday). I could access
<http://www.worldfamilies.net> www.worldfamilies.net. almost immediately and
managed to get Marilyn's computer to reconnect as well. Ironically, my
laptop and Carrie's computers picked up the routing to the hijacker site and
cannot connect yet . If you still can't connect by noon on Sunday after
clearing your cache - we have a worse problem than I feared.
The http://worldfamilies.net and www.worldfamilies.net addresses are
actually two different pointers and they don't refresh together - which is a
part of the weirdness some users are seeing - as they don't refresh
together. That is why some of you can connect and others cannot.
I am not getting all of my email yet (as it comes through 3 different sites
- all affected by the hijacking.) I am posting this after being alerted
that there is a discussion at Genealogy-DNA. We're still working to get a
complete fix.. Our apologies for your inconvenience.
Best Regards,
Terry Barton
