Dear John,
It would be nice to have some 67 marker Y STR haplotypes from a
number of lineages of chimpanzees as well as a number of 67 marker Y STR
haplotypes from ancient Neanderthal DNA. In any case, I would be surprised
if it is eventually determined that the age of Y Adam predates the
human/Neanderthal split.

Robert,

Since it has been reasonably established that at least some modern humans
have received up to 4% to 5% of their DNA from archaic human branches like
Neanderthal, and another archaic human branch, the position of who
Y-Chromosome Adam was is being blurred.
