Using my Decodeme results file, Ethnoancestry performed their TGAC analysis yielding what, to me, is a surprising result. I am R1b-L48* on the Y-side and H1* on the mtDna side. I expected to be categorized among the British or Germanic clusters in the European Ancestry Plot. Instead I am categorized between the French to the "east" and "south" and the French Basques to the "west" but all by myself just to the "north" of the Iberian cluster. There is nothing but white space to the "north". My known paternal ancestry is English/Swedish/German and my known maternal ancestry is Scots/Ulster-Scots/German/Dutch. One line is known to the 16th century in Somerset, one to the 17th century in County Down and all others to the 18th century in Germany (the Hunsrueck, Stuttgart and the lower Rhineland) or County Antrim or pre-American Revolution North America (most probably from England). Finding myself amongst the French is most surprising. A wandering Dane/Angle/Visigoth perhaps?
