I don't have Tim's patience, so I took a different, easy-living, approach.

Using Ken's interclade estimation spreadsheet, I put the 38 haplogroup A men in
one group and 200 randomly selected members of my Italy DNA Project (which are
mostly from subclades of E and F) in the other group.

This yielded a TMRCA estimate for Y-Adam of 3,341 generations.

The sigma is high, of course (738 generations), but by my reckoning that works
out to something like 100,000 years ago which strikes me as pretty sensible.

I don't have Tim Janzen skill to calculate TMRCA with his method but those
entries in this project seem clean enough and I wonder what results would be
found with all these entries, instead of the nine ones. I bet the result is very
different.

Happy new year to all !
