Subject: [DNA] 23andMe, V2 to V3 Y-DNA Comparison
Date: Sun, 6 Mar 2011 11:33:46 -0500
Having recently been notified that my V3 results were available, I thought I'd look to see what differences might exist between my V2 & V3 Y-DNA data files.
Numerically, I found 97% more SNPs in the V3 download file - V2 had 1,879 SNPs and V3 had 3,702.
In my V2 file I found 20 "no-calls" [NC] out of 1,879 data points, ~1%. However, in the V3 file I counted 1,241 NCs out of 3,702 data points, over 33%.
The "good" news is that out of the 20 V2 NCs, 16 were no longer NCs in the V3 data file.
So, while the V3 chip had 97% more Y-DNA data points, only 2,461 (66.4%) resulted in producing usable genotype information.
