Subject: [DNA] Characteristics of Sardinian I2a1 Haplotypes
Date: Thu, 2 Jun 2011 13:42:16 -0600
I have organized the 33 or so I2a1 M26+ haplotypes from the new paper on northern Sardinia.
Two characteristics hit my eye concerning this sample.
DYS385 = modal 12,12 is LOWER frequency for the Sardinian set than for the overall European M26+ population.
In other words, Sardinian DYS385 shows higher frequency of mutations to 11 or 13 on one (or both) of its repeats.
While DYS391 = 10 is the clear modality for overall European M26+, there is decent amount of DYS391=9 and DYS391=11 found overall.
But the Sardinian DYS391 is monolithically DYS391 = 10.
