Anatole,

Quite a controversy arose several years ago when a family from Yorkshire was found to belong to Haplogroup A and many began to speculate as to how/when an "African Y-chromosome" arrived in England.. As I recall, the line could be traced only to the mid-18th century and genetic analysis indicated that the common ancestor of several men from the family appeared to date from that period.
Do you know which A-subgroup this family belonged to or has the result been misrepresented or was the resolution of the test insufficient to provide a clear answer?
