Wayne Kauffman asked about L277+ people in I2a (I-P37.2).
This L277+ group is a subgroup of I-M26 which is well known as occurring in about 40% of Sardinian men but which is found all over westernmost Europe. But the L277+ people have YCAIIa,b=18,21 or similar while everyone else in I-M26 has the very unusual 11,21 or similar.
I know of three M26+ L277+ people from 23andMe, and we have STRs for two of them. We tested two different people expected to be L277+ at FTDNA around May of 2011. In Feb 2012 one of these people received L277+ results and the other was informed that they were unable to get a result because L277 occurs in a null region of his Y chromosome. This person also has a null DYS442. (We also have L277- results for people in YCAIIa,a=11,21 subgroup of I-M26).
So right now we only have one L277+ result from FTDNA, one more test is in progress, and it's possible we could convince 2 or 3 more likely L277+ people to join the project and test.
I will post another message about the I-M26 tree, my drawing of the current SNPs is herehttp://cullengene.blogspot.com/2012/03/z-snps-added-to-i-m26-tree.html
