I need help!!
I have been informed that my GGgrandfather who lived in "Black Cow Lane,
Wexford."
fathered 60 children.
He was a Michael Fenlon born in Carlow in 1800/01. He arrived in Wexford as
a Schoolteacher with the the Militia and over his life married three times
1, Mary Ouselem of Wexford
2, Margaret Murphy of Wexford
3, Mary Murphy of Ballinaslaney,Wexford.
His 1st wife is said to have presented him with twenty-four children.
Wife No 2 added sixteen children to the household.
Wife No 3 gave birth to twenty children.
I might add he remarried on the death of his wives.
Michael Fenlon died on January 11, 1900 and is buried with his first wife
in the little graveyard of St. Patricks, in St Patricks Square, Wexford.
The chief mourners at his funeral numbered 350 of his direct desendants.
Any information please.
TIA
Edward

The dates on this list must refer to the dates that the volumes were
printed. The valuation itself took place some time earlier. For
example: the valuation for the Parish of Kiltullagh in County Roscommon
was done in April 1854. Linda's list says Roscommon was done 1857-58.
The date of the valuation is written on the first in the series of the
Cancelled Land Books for each Parish currently held at the Valuation
Office in Dublin.
Ray is right. A detailed date list showing exactly when the valuation
was done in each parish would be very valuable.

My ggggrandfather came here c.1815 - first to Halifax, then, boston, then, NYC.
He also traveled extensively in the West - as far as St. Louis.
His name was Patrick J. Kenedy. He was married first to Isabelle Timon, sister
of John Timon, the first Bishop of Buffalo, NY, She bore him I think two sons
before
she died. P.J. then married Brigid Smith who had several sons. P.J. Kenedy
eventually settled in NYC and published Hay's History of the Irish Rebellion
and the Bible. P.J Kenedy and Sons was in existence for over 100 years and
then
was bought out by Scribner's, I think.
Any connections?

You don't have to subscribe. You can use a Newsreader program and
home in on soc.genealogy.ireland.
GENIRE is been distributed by RootsWeb. RootsWeb's home
page is at http://www.rootsweb.com/.
If you would like to subscribe to GENIRE, send to
the message "subscribe" (without the
quotation marks). Don't include your address, your signature, or
anything in the message body except that one word. To quit the group,
change 'subscribe' to 'unsubscribe'.
To post a message, send it to .
Notice that messages to the group's administration have the word "request"
in the address.
If you don't put that word in, your requests go out as a post to the entire
group and is never seen or acted upon by the administator's computer.

Am researching James Byrne who was born 1 Sept 1769 in Co. Wicklow. He was
found guilty of treasonable and seditious practices, and was transported to
Australia on the "Anne: in 1801.
I believe his father was Edward Byrne, and his brother was Michael Byrne.
Both faced similar charges. His father appears to have been found not
guilty. His brother was found guilty, but I do not know what became of
him.
Any help is appreciated.

It is my understanding that this list can not be closed since it is a gateway
from the newsgroup. I feel the best thing to do is to ignore these sick
people with the hope they will soon stop posting to the list. Let's not
discuss it on the list either and stick to genealogical research.

To all !
While researching for Caveys I received mails from Caveys in U.S.A.
There is two theories about the origins of the name.
Those - as I - that believe that the name is a latin name and who think
that they have theirs roots in England (Kent or Surrey) and probably
came from France after the battle of Hastings.
And those who believe that they are Irish and the name Cavey came from
McDavid.

Hi,
Their homepage can be found at:
http://www.ucc.ie/
It listed as an address:
University College
Cork, Ireland
From their homepage you should be able to click on the music department.
Slan,
Margaret (Mairead)

Margaret:
Many Internet Service Providers have "abuse" mailing addresses.
For example, I can forward mail I don't like to
if I think the mail originated by someone using AT&T. I think
others have similar "abuse" addresses, e.g., .
On several occasions, when I've received E-mail that is extremely
offensive, I've traced down the path the message took by
observing the IP addresses in the E-mail header.
In Internet Explorer click on "File" then select "Properties" to
see this info. For example, the header from your original post
looks like:
>Path:
wn7!bgtf2!worldnet.att.net!news-peer.sprintlink.net!news-sea-19.sprintlink.n
et!news-in->west.sprintlink.net!news.sprintlink.net!Sprint!204.212.38.29!new

Studying the "Path" above can provide clues about where the message
originated. Of course, this can be faked. I have a friend without an
E-mail address that somehow sends me mail from myself! I don't
know how he does this.
Complaining may not help much, but sometimes you'll feel better
that you tried to do something about it.
Unfortuantely, just posting to a newsgroup will expose your E-mail
address and will likely result in future spam. Two weeks ago I
received about 40 return messages that had "bounced" as
invalid E-mail addresses. Someone was sending out junk
mail with my E-mail address as the originator!
