I qualify. I live in Ireland and used to live in County Laois which
was originally Queen's County and later County Leix. The Irish for
"Leix" is "Laois" and the County is now generally called (County)
Laois.
There are many documents from earlier years which contain the older
names - title deeds, BDM registers, etc., etc., and of course, they
are still valid.
