Is anyone researching O'NEILL's of Kilkenny and then Charleston, SC in
the 1850's? Rev. Patrick O'Neill came to Charleston, SC about 1838 from
Kilkenny. He had a "brother",Walter O'Neill, who died in Charleston in
1859. He is listed in 1850 census along with an Ellen McCormick, and
Eliza and Anastasia O'Neill. I am hoping to tie him in with orphans James
Joseph O'Neill (b. 1845) and Mary Ann/Mollie O'Neill (b. 1849 NY). She
was "delivered" out of the orphanage to the BRANDT family and
disappeared. James fought in the Civil War out of Charleston and then
migrated to Mississippi. Any correspondence appreciated.
